Floyd Lamb State Park, Nevada About 20 miles from Las Vegas es this state park, a beautiful place to get out of town for a few hours and enjoy the desert beauty of this region. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this park, which is a real contrast to the glitter and glitz just minutes away. To reach the park, take US 95 north of town past Ann Road then follow the signs to the park. Admission is $5 per car; the park is open from 8am-7pm. Once in the park, you’ll find picnic spots as well as beautiful ponds well stocked with fish. We especially liked the walking paths. One of the park’s highlights is Tule Springs Ranch, where many fossilized mammoth and bison remains have been found. This region was once a watering hole then later became a private ranch used as a retreat for many movie stars waiting out the six-month residency requirement for divorce in Nevada. For more on the park, call the Floyd Lamb State Park, Tel. 702/486-5413. |
