Las Vegas Buffets
Buffet at Paris Las Vegas The famous Las Vegas buffet got its start in the early 1940s with the El Rancho Vegas Hotel. As the first hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, the hotel was looking for a way to keep customers in the joint after the second show. They came up with the Midnight Chuck Wagon Buffet and guests could have all they could eat for a dollar. Today you won’t find $1 buffets, but you will find good deals on food and massive selection to boot. There are often concessions to this orgy of inexpensive food, however: you may have to eat at certain hours to take advantage of the low buffet price, and you may have to stand in some long lines as well. The buffet tradition is still going strong, though. At the Circus Circus Hotel-Casino, over 10,000 people a day are served buffet style (one day they did over 17,600 worth of plate filling!) Some hotels have decided to specialize with weekend champagne brunch buffets or theme buffets.
