Boulder Strip Hotels

Like the hotels of downtown Las Vegas, the properties on the Boulder Highway, also known as the Boulder Strip, aren't a big draw for families. Some do offer family-friendly features, though, and their prices are easier on the budget that those hotels of the Strip.

BOULDER STATION
4111 Boulder Highway
Rates: $-$$
Amenities: casino, live entertainment, 24-hour coffee shop, a food court and numerous restaurants which serve dishes for an adult palette.
Family-friendly facilities: pool, KIDS QUEST childcare facility, movie theaters

This 300-room hotel is a favorite gaming spot for local residents and well-known for its friendly staff. KIDS QUEST, a designated child-friendly environment supervised by a professionally certified staff, offers arts and crafts activities, an indoor playground, a karaoke stage and age-appropriate video games to provide hours of entertainment while parents play in the hotel's casino. The facility, which is open seven days a week, is available to children as young as six weeks old up to 12 years of age.

Tykes and teens can also buy tickets for the latest blockbuster at Regal Cinemas, an 11-screen hotel multiplex which shows matinees and evening feature films.

Kids can satisfy their cravings at the food court, home to a Burger King, Subway, and several other fast food franchises.

NEVADA PALACE

Amenities: casino, RV park, 24-hour restaurant
Family-friendly facilities: pool

Nevada Palace is located about 15 minutes from the city out on the Boulder Highway. The 220-room hotel's draw is its low rates, along with its casino. The hotel offers a trucker's special, so don't expect to see this one filled with families.

SAM'S TOWN

Amenities: casino, RV park, sports bar, dance hall, bowling, shopping, a food court and several restaurants
Family-friendly facilities: food court, indoor park, bowling, Sunset Stampede at Mystic Park Falls, movie theater

This Old West themed hotel has 646 rooms, each continuing the Western motif. An 18-screen movie theater with stadium seating and a 24-hour, 56 lane bowling center with day care for the little ones and a video arcade for tweens and teens offers hours of family-friendly entertainment.

While Billy Bob's Steakhouse serves up sizzling sirloin and Fellini's offers an array of Italian items on their menu, if your kids have their hearts set on a happy meal, you'll find a McDonald's at the hotel's food court, along with a Subway and a pizza parlor.
