Downtown Las Vegas Hotels
BINION'S HORSESHOE This 366-guestroom hotel is a favorite with serious gamblers thanks to its annual tournaments. While small fries can swim in the Top of the World pool or grab a bite at Binion's Burgers, this is an old-fashioned Vegas hotel, with the emphasis on gaming. High rollers are far more common here than high chairs. CALIFORNIA HOTEL This 781-room hotel prides itself on its “Aloha Spirit.” Let's see...it's called the California, it's located in Nevada, but it has Aloha Spirit! This 638-room tower hotel is a downtown fixture. Each room has a safe, 25-inch TV, and modem ports. Geared toward serious gamblers, the venue has little to offer in terms of child-friendly fare beyond a McDonald's and Krispy Kreme doughnut shop. FOUR QUEENS This 690-room high rise hotel features Jacuzzis in some suites as well as features such as valet parking, same-day laundry service, a 32" inch HD flat panel TV and room service. Families can step outside the hotel to watch a free nightly nod to the Vegas of yesteryear as the Fremont Street Experience's big Viva Vision screen lights up overhead, displaying spectacular special effects and iconic Vegas imagery, all to a pulsating soundtrack. GOLDEN GATE HOTEL AND CASINO The Golden Gate is one of the oldest hotels in the city and has a more intimate atmosphere than other properties thanks to its small size - just 106 guest rooms. With almost a B&B feel, this hotel is just steps from the Fremont Street Experience. Guests receive a complimentary newspaper and also have amenities such as cable TV and voice mail. GOLDEN NUGGET This 1907-room casino hotel is a AAA Four Diamond property and known for its elegance, from its crystal chandeliers to its fine marble. The hotel has several elegant features as well such as a spa and dates back to the days of “old” Las Vegas, first opening its doors in 1946. The completely renovated retreat offers such family-oriented fare as The Tank, where parents and their pint-sized counterparts can plunge down a three-story water slide into a pool connected to a 200,000 gallon aquarium containing an array of marine species, including the danger of the deep-- sharks. Families can also enrich their Vegas vacation by checking out “The Hand of Faith,” the world's largest single nugget of gold. You can take a free look 24 hours a day; the nugget weighs in a over 61 pounds. The hotel is also home to what must be Las Vegas's most unique pool complex: "The Tank." This $20 million complex is home to five species of sharks and various game fish in a 200,000-gallon shark aquarium. The aquarium is the centerpiece of the three-story pool complex, complete with waterfalls and a great waterslide that speeds adventurous guests through the aquarium. The Tank is open exclusively to hotel guests, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. PLAZA HOTEL AND CASINO This 1037-room hotel is a downtown fixture. Although it's best known for its casino, it does have some family friendly features as well as good prices.
