Main Street Station
Rates: $-$$ Family-friendly facilities: good location, good rates, transportation to some other casino hotels Other Amenities: casino, micro-brewery, gourmet dining, 24-hour cafe Like other downtown hotels, Main Street Station is light on the theme, heavy on the gaming, making it not the best choice for families. This 406-room hotel has a Victorian era theme (again, not the most exciting for kids) and a few years ago underwent an extensive upgrade. You’ll see Victorian touches everywhere, from sconces to rich paneling. The rooms continue the decorating scheme with gold framed mirrors, white window shutters, and rich woods. You’re free to wander through the hotel for a self-guided look at the many antiques that have been collected here including Buffalo Bill Cody’s private rail car and a fireplace from Scotland’s Preswick Castle. There’s a complimentary shuttle that runs from this hotel, the California and the Fremont Hotel to the Strip and the Boulder Strip. One very good feature for driving families is that Main Street Station has an extensive parking lot, over 2,500 free parking spaces. Location: 200 N. Main Street, Tel. 702/387-1896 or 800/465-0711, Fax 702/386-4421, www.mainstreetcasino.com. |
