Family Shopping in Las Vegas

Any money travelers might have won at the tables is the target of the many shops found just steps from the casinos. Every casino hotel has an arcade of beautiful shops offered in one last attempt to keep those winnings in house. Several of the shopping areas have features of special interest to families. Las Vegas is also home to some traditional shopping malls as well.

Shopping centers

The Fashion Show Mall, 3200 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Tel. 702/369-8382, is a landmark on the Strip thanks to its location near from Treasure Island. You’ll find plenty of high end stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy’s here as well as family-friendly features like a food court. Open weekdays 10am-9pm, Saturday 10am-7pm, and Sunday 10am-6pm.

The Forum Shops at Caesars, 3500 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Tel. 702/893-4800, may be a mall, but it’s unlike any other mall you’ve ever seen. The mall boasts ritzy names you’d expect to see here including Versace and Benini, but also kid favorites like FAO Schwarz (don't worry about missing it...just look for the huge wooden Trojan horse). Of special interest, the mall is home to many special features including a 50,000-gallon aquarium and two "moving statue" fountain shows, all free. Young families will also find strollers for rent for $10 for the first three hours; go to the concierge desk near the Fountain of the Gods for rentals.

Another large casino shopping center is The Tower Shops at Stratosphere Hotel and Casino, 2000 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Tel. 702/383-4790. This mall is decorated with street scenes from cities like New York, Paris and Hong Kong.

One of the biggest malls in town (actually in Nevada) is The Boulevard Mall, 3528 Maryland Parkway, Tel. 702/735-8268, www.lbvdmall.com. The mall is just a few minutes from the major tourist areas.

Another large mall is Meadows Mall, 4300 Meadows Lane (at US95 and Valley View Boulevard), Tel. 702/702/878-4849. This mall is two-story and has over 140 stores. Open 10am-9pm weekdays, 10-5 weekends.

Factory Outlets

In search of a bargain? You’ve got a few options:

Belz Factory Outlet World, 7400 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Tel. 702/896-5599, is home to almost 150 stores as well as two food courts where even the pickiest eater will find something good.

Factory Stores of America, 9155 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Tel. 702/897-9090, has over 50 stores.
